Review LampHead - AMMON GROOVY SPEEDY
A fun endless runner with a unique theme

Great, unique aesthetic, interesting gameplay, easy controls
Environments seem pretty static, rewards are too difficult to worry about
You’re in a dark cave with only one path ahead of you. The only problem is that it’s full of loose boulders, spiders, bats, spikes, and tons of other various items and objects that want you dead. There is no choice, though. You have to move on. It’s the only way out. Lamphead for Android is a one-touch endless runner that has you playing a protagonist with a lamp for a head. Go figure.
I haven’t decided which is more creepy: the cavernous space you’ve found yourself in or the creepy dude with the lamp for a head. How do we know he’s the good guy and not some evil trying to escape a forgotten hole in order to unleash chaos and havoc on the world? Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that does is trying to run as far as you can by tapping on the screen to flip your character upside-down and rightside-up in order to avoid all the things that want to kill you.
As you run along the path it will become more perilous and your character will run faster, making things more difficult. Fortunately, the game will throw you a few bones. You’ll find certain power-ups that will do things like allow you to be hit by something without dying, or slowing you down for a sometimes needed break.
You’ll collect currency that can be used to buy power-ups that can be used in the beginning of a run or various skins. The skins are pretty cool, but they take a ton of time and effort to unlock. The power-ups, unfortunately, just aren’t that cool and they also take a good bit of time to purchase without literally purchasing them with real money.
Lamphead has greater presentation than what the gameplay actually lives up to. It’s certainly fun, but the lack of rewards really don’t make me interested in playing the game longer than I did.
